A hi-tech company often focuses on being innovative by providing product offerings as product leader, fast follower or with operational excellence. In the international calling sector the technological solutions are numerous. The providers are, for instance, normal telecom providers, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and Mobile virtual network operators (MVNO). This means that a company faces not only the competitors that offer the same solution but also from outside the company’s business sector. The company thus needs to tackle many challenges, such as fast-paced product development, market expansion, competitor volatility, at the same time as the company cultivates its brand assets. This study focuses on the branding strategy within the VoIP telecom sector. It aims to set a guideline for how companies, in particular in the VoIP telecom sectors, cultivate and enhance their brand identity in order to differentiate themselves from competitors as well as achieve a successful and sustainable level of brand equity. The thesis also studies the brand strategies that have already manifested themselves within the providers of international calling services, in particular VoIP providers and a couple of MVNO providers. By conducting the brand identity and brand equity analysis, customer analysis and competitors’ analysis, a company can make a decision on brand strategy that will further associate, differentiate, energize and support its brands. The research framework consists of both the corporate and consumer perspectives. It consists of brand theory, market research, competitor analysis and the company’s brand identity, as well as brand awareness analysis. The thesis presents the Swedish VoIP consumers’ behavior and trends, the guideline and case study on how a company bridges the gap between brand identity and brand equity as well as the guideline and case study of brand portfolio strategies that have been explored within the VoIP telecom sectors, i.e. VoIP branding

Polarization Effects in Chargino Production at High Energy γγ\gamma\gamma Colliders

We investigate the chargino production process γγW~+W~\gamma\gamma\rightarrow\tilde{W}^{+}\tilde{W}^{-} at high energy γγ\gamma\gamma colliders in the framework of the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). Here the high energy γ\gamma beams are obtained by the backward Compton scattering of the laser flush by the electron in the basic linear TeV eeee colliders. We consider the polarization of the laser photons as well as the electron beams. Appropriate beam polarization could be effective to enhance the cross section and for us to extract the signal from the dominant background γγW+W\gamma\gamma\rightarrow{W}^{+}{W}^{-}.Comment: 7 pages, latex , 3 figures are available upon reques

Relativistic Quantum Thermodynamics of Ideal Gases in 2 Dimensions

In this work we study the behavior of relativistic ideal Bose and Fermi gases in two space dimensions. Making use of polylogarithm functions we derive a closed and unified expression for their densities. It is shown that both type of gases are essentially inequivalent, and only in the non-relativistic limit the spinless and equal mass Bose and Fermi gases are equivalent as known in the literature.Comment: 6 pages, 1 figur

Custodial SO(4) symmetry and CP violation in N-Higgs-doublet potentials

We study the implementation of global SO(4)SU(2)LSU(2)RSO(4)\sim SU(2)_L\otimes SU(2)_R symmetry in general potentials with N-Higgs-doublets in order to obtain models with custodial SO(3)CSO(3)_C symmetry. We conclude that any implementation of the custodial SO(4) symmetry is equivalent, by a basis transformation, to a canonical one if SU(2)LSU(2)_L is the gauge factor, U(1)YU(1)_Y is embedded in SU(2)RSU(2)_R and we require NN copies of the doublet representation of SU(2)RSU(2)_R. The invariance by SO(4) automatically leads to a CP invariant potential and the basis of the canonical implementation of SO(4) is aligned to a basis where CP-symmetry acts in the standard fashion. We show different but equivalent implementations for the 2HDM, including an implementation not previously considered.Comment: 22pp, REVTeX4. Published versio

Zero gravity and cardiovascular homeostasis. The relationship between endogenous hyperprolactinemia and plasma aldosterone

Prolactin, thyrotropin and aldosterone were measured by radioimmunoassay and plasma renin activity by the radioimmunoassay of angiotensin I in normal women before and after the intravenous injection of 200 micrograms of thyrotropin releasing hormone. Prolactin increased at 15 minutes following thyrotropin releasing hormone. Plasma renin activity was not different from control levels during the first hour following the administration of thyrotropin releasing hormone, nor did the plasma aldosterone concentration differ significantly from the control levels during this period. However, with upright posture, an increase in aldosterone and in plasma renin activity was noted, demonstrating a normal capacity to secrete aldosterone. Similarly, no change in aldosterone was seen in 9 patients with primary hypothyroidism given thyrotropin releasing hormone, despite the fact that the increase in prolactin was greater than normal. These data demonstrate that acutely or chronically elevated serum prolactin levels do not result in increased plasma aldosterone levels in humans

    Presymmetry beyond the Standard Model

We go beyond the Standard Model guided by presymmetry, the discrete electroweak quark-lepton symmetry hidden by topological effects which explain quark fractional charges as in condense matter physics. Partners of the particles of the Standard Model and the discrete symmetry associated with this partnership appear as manifestations of a residual presymmetry and its extension from matter to forces. This duplication of the spectrum of the Standard Model keeps spin and comes nondegenerated about the TeV scale.Comment: 6 pages, 11 figures. Radiative Corrections to the Higgs Boson Mass for a Hierarchical Stop Spectrum

An effective theory approach is used to compute analytically the radiative corrections to the mass of the light Higgs boson of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model when there is a hierarchy in the masses of the stops (M_st1 >> M_st2 >> M_top, with moderate stop mixing). The calculation includes up to two-loop leading and next-to-leading logarithmic corrections dependent on the QCD and top-Yukawa couplings, and is further completed by two-loop non-logarithmic corrections extracted from the effective potential. The results presented disagree already at two-loop-leading-log level with widely used findings of previous literature. Our formulas can be used as the starting point for a full numerical resummation of logarithmic corrections to all loops, which would be mandatory if the hierarchy between the stop masses is large.Comment: 42 pages, LaTeX, 13 figure
